Lip oil instead of gloss for two weeks. My lips stopped peeling by day four....

Our take

For years, I was a die-hard gloss girl, loving everything from clear to sparkly finishes. However, my lips were perpetually dry, no matter how much balm I used. I soon realized that my beloved glosses—often lacking moisturizing ingredients and sometimes containing alcohol—might be the culprit. So, I decided to switch to lip oil for two weeks, maintaining my usual routine. Remarkably, by day four, my lips stopped peeling, and the annoying dry line vanished.

I have been a gloss girl forever. Clear, sticky, sparkly, I love it all. But my lips have been chronically dry for months no matter how much balmm I use.

I realized my gloss habit might be the problem. Most glosses have basically zero moisturizing ingredients. Some even have alcohol to make them dry faster, which is actively making my lips worse..

I switched to lip oil for two weeks. Same routine otherwise... My lips stopped peeling by day four. The dry line in the middle of my bottom lip is gone. I do not have to reapply balm every thirty minutes anymore.

The downside is the shine. Lip oil is glossy but not that high beam reflective finish I like. It looks healthy, not dramatic. And it absorbs faster so I need to reapply more often than gloss.

Wind still makes my hair stick to it. It is oil. If you hate that feeling you will still hate this.

If you have dry lips and live in gloss, try switching for a week. See if it helps.
