Tips for toning down makeup?

Our take

Hey there, glam squad! If you’re navigating the world of prom makeup while trying to balance your vision with parental guidance, you’re not alone. Toning down a bold look doesn’t mean sacrificing style. By softening your smoky eye with lighter blacks and grays, you can create a stunning yet subtle effect. Adding a gem to your inner corner is a chic touch! Plus, if you’re channeling that East Asian bottom lash vibe, practice makes perfect for getting the size just right.

Tips for toning down makeup?

Hiya folks, this’ll be my first and last prom. My mom doesn’t approve of the makeup I want and wants me to go for more of a natural look that she claims will suit my natural features better. Since I had a black dress, I wanted a dark smokey look to match. Is there anyway to tone down the intensity? I was thinking maybe a bit less silver and just a lighter hand with black and maybe some gray instead. (I also replaced the inner eye corner with a gem instead) Also, as you can see in one of the pictures, I really like the bottom lash style that you see in a lot of East Asian looks but couldn’t figure out how to get it small enough. Also, does anyone have any tips for avoiding watery eyes with mascara? Thanks so much!!
