What after terbinafine? Answer if you’ve successfully been fungus free.

Our take

Are you finally fungus-free after battling that stubborn toenail infection? If so, congratulations! As you prepare for your next steps, it's crucial to consider how to maintain your hard-earned results. Many have pondered whether to toss out old shoes and socks, how to properly disinfect items during treatment, and what to do about bedding and carpets. Plus, if sweaty feet are your concern, there are strategies to keep them dry in the summer. Let’s dive into these questions and share insights for a fresh start!

Hey guys soon I’m making the decisions to go to the doctor for my toenails. I’m fairly young and I hated my toes but this has made me detest them and it’s gotten to the point I’ve considered leaving my bf so he can have someone “cleaner” anyways.

I know about how you need to take care of yourself. Avoid caffeine, get bloodwork the whole 9 yards. I know some doctors say, get rid of all your shoes and socks and start new.

My questions that are strictly for people that have managed to get rid of the toenail infection are 1) did you throw away all shoes and socks that you had, then started new, and then after being off terbinafine did you then throw away those shoes and socks and got new ones again?

2) How did you disinfect shoes and socks while on treatment ( and tools)?

3)Would I be able to get treated while having the same carpet I was barefoot in while I had the toenail infection? Will I get infected again?

4)What’s the deal with bedding? Do I have to wash it every night to avoid reinfection?

5)And clipping? Once clear nails shows, do I have to like get a tub full of clippers and use one for each nail, to avoid infection again?

6)If you have sweaty feet how did you keep them dry in summer?

I know some questions may be obvious for some people but I’d want as much information as I can.

Thank you for reading this far, I appreciate it and hopefully this will help me and a lot of people.
