Should we go in Ravenna, Italy in August?

In early to mid-August (from 4th to 10th of the month), my friend and I would like to visit Italy. We’re thinking of somewhere further north, as it’ll be hot and we’d like to be closer to the sea and enjoy the a little bit cooler air.

We’ve been thinking about visiting Ravenna or Marina di Ravenna, having read online that it’s beautiful there and that there are various sights to see. At the same time, we’d like to relax – these are our holiday days and one of us will have a birthday during the trip – so we’re also looking out for any events or bars worth visiting. All in all, we’re looking for a mix of fun and leisure.

Is it a good option considering our needs? We want to go somewhere that isn’t often visited, but it’s definitely worth it.
