Goodbye, little Cheeky

| My first pullet to cross the rainbow bridge. I am shocked and sad - came home from lunch with a friend and didn't see Cheeky. Looked around, knowing something was strange. She was still warm when I found her. I only had Cheeky since October. She was an Olive Egger who was small and timid - the lowest in the pecking order but still a trooper. Cheeky was my favorite from Day 1. All her sisters started laying in January, but Cheeky never did. I don't even have photos of her alive... she had dry fowl pox a few months ago but had recovered. Cheeky, you were from my 1st flock and you were my first favorite chicken. She spent her days dust bathing, eating black soldier fly larvae, lettuce, scratch, apples, and blueberries. She liked scratching in pebbles and digging in hay. Thanks for being my little chicken friend, Cheeky. I'll never forget you. [link] [comments] |
