How to prevent folliculitis and ingrowns after waxing?
Our take
Struggling with folliculitis and ingrown hairs after waxing can be frustrating, especially when preparing for a Brazilian. If you’ve noticed these issues with finer hair, like on your upper arms and chest, you’re not alone. There are effective techniques and products that can help minimize irritation and promote smoother skin. From pre-wax exfoliation to post-wax soothing treatments, exploring options like Tend Skin and Bush Balm could make a difference. Let's dive into practical strategies to keep your skin happy and bump-free after your next wax!
Everytime I’ve gotten waxed, I always get really bad folliculitis and some ingrowns. I have a Brazilian booked and I want to minimize the folliculitis as it lasts for weeks and then leaves me with marks. I have only ever waxed my arms and chest. I feel like the folliculitis is worse on finer hair like my upper arms and chest area. This happens when I shave sometimes too.
Are there any products that I can buy to reduce/eliminate this? Or techniques I can try? Does tend skin or bush balm work?

- Horrid influx of ingrown hair post waxinghi! f18 here, just like the title says, i got waxed after around 4/5 ish months last month, and my previous waxing exp was also really bad- led to bumpy hair in my calves area, and ingorwn hair in my inner thighs, but this time it was actually SO bad, i have bumpy hair growing all over my legs and my inner thighs now have spots from previous ingrown hair and more just seem to keep coming, in my arms theres nothing wrong but i also have 2 hairs coming from one area in y legs and pits. This has absolutely broken any sense of comfort i had in my body i feel so disgusting and ugly, but i dont know how to get rid of them, theres no set 'cleansing routine' i follow pre and post waxing because ever since i started, which was like 3rd grade, this has never happened. is it my doing? am i going to the wrong waxing people? should i try epillating instead? (i do it for my face usually), or shaving? (never tried thinking hair would come out rough. i could really use any advice on how i can get rid of these spots, ingrown and bumpy hair, and the 2 hair in one sithc, please. submitted by /u/curiouscaterpillar44 [link] [comments]
- Brazilian waxI’ve gotten a Brazilian wax about 10 times and no matter who I go to it’s always so painful. I like getting them done because it’s just such a better regrowth than shaving. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the experience less painful? submitted by /u/Inside-54545 [link] [comments]
- Waxing vs shavingI (25f) have been waxing at a chain for almost 3y my full legs and underarms, different locations but consistent on waxers. They always tell you to be consistent with waxing for your progress but if I’m honest I’m just not seeing great results still after 3y. I am Hispanic and have PCOS and grow a lot of very dark and curly hair. I get such bad ingrowns every time, I’ve tried every product under the sun and have a VERY strict after care routine that just isn’t working for all the money and time I’ve spent during my waxing journey. These are just from this lazy waxing session April 8th. Anyone with this type of problem what do you do? It’s just not worth it to me anymore any tips on what shaver to use when I switch or possibly more products to try lol submitted by /u/mad3lynn3ccles [link] [comments]
